Beginner Garment Sewing: Skirt No. 1 - February 23rd
Saturday, February 23rd
11:30am - 2:30pm
Craft Habit Raleigh - 2423 Crabtree Blvd, Raleigh NC 27604
This class is open to students age 14 +, with some experience using a sewing machine.
Ease into the world of garment sewing with this excellent introductory class! You will learn to read, understand, and follow a printed pattern - using the very beginner-friendly Skirt No. 1 pattern from 100 Acts of Sewing. Instructor Margaret Hester is an experienced seamstress & enthusiastic teacher, excited to usher you into the wonderful world of handmade clothing!
You will be provided with a copy of the skirt pattern, and use of sewing tools and a sewing machine during class.
Students may bring their own sewing machines to use during class, if you would prefer to use your own equipment. Machines must be in good working condition. Please test your sewing machine before coming to class, and arrive at class 20 minutes early if you will need help setting up your machine.
You will need to bring or purchase the following additional supplies:
- 2 1/2 yards of mid-weight plain weave fabric, such as linen, cotton, or natural fiber blend. We highly recommend choosing a solid color fabric for your first garment project. You MUST wash, dry & iron your fabric before coming to class, or run the risk of shrinking your garment.
- 1 spool of cotton thread in a coordinating color
- 1 yard of 1" wide elastic
When you buy your materials at Craft Habit, you'll get 10% off your entire purchase that day!
If you are registering for more than one spot, or on behalf of another person, please use the "Notes" box at check-out to tell us the names of all participants!
